New Delhi (22.05.2024): Jetha Ahir was elected uncontested as the chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) in the election held in Delhi on Tuesday. He was elected unopposed by the board comprising twenty-one directors, of which two are from Gujarat, including Rajkot MP Mohan Kundariya. He replaces Bijender Singh who held the coveted position as NAFED Chairman since 2007. Jetha, a BJP MLA, previously served as the Deputy Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly. He is also the Chairman of Pancharmrut Dairy as well of the Panchmahal District Cooperative (PDC) Bank.
Jetha’s appointment comes in the backdrop of recent buzz over Jetpur BJP MLA Jayesh Radadiya’s election as a board member in the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) against BJP-mandated Bipin Patel. It may be underlined that Dileep Sanghani’s unopposed re-election as the IFFCO chairman earlier this month also sparked a controversy among the political circles.
