The incumbent Secretary (ER) MEA Ms Sujata Mehta (IFS:1980) has been appointed as Secretary (West) whereas Amar Sinha (IFS:1982), the incumbent Ambassador of India to Afghanistan will succeed Ms Mehta as Secretary (ER).
Similarly, Preeti Saran (IFS:1982) Ambassdor of India to Hanoi has been appointed as Secretary, (East).
