The NaMo administration on Tuesday appointed Barun Mitra (IAS:1987:MN) as new Secretary, Department of Justice vice Alok Shrivastava (IAS:1984:MP) who moved to NCLAT as Member (Technical). It may be underlined that Shrivastava’s appointment in NCLAT was cleared months back i.e. October 31, 2019. Weeks back Mitra was appointed as OSD in the Department of Justice. While serving as Special Secretary in the Department of Defence Production Mitra and Justice and also held the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Defence and Secretary, Department of Defence Production w.e.f. 01.01.2020 to 03.01.2020 during the period of absence on leave of Dr Ajay Kumar (lAS:1985:KL).
