The Department of Personnel and Training has chalked-out a framework allowing union ministers to have more than one OSD in rank of DS/Director. Union Cabinet Ministers are entitled for 24 personal staffs and MoS are entitled for 18 personal staffs. DoPT has designed eight sets of options which allow the ministers to get additional number of OSD in place of a set of option reducing two or three number of staff in different rank. As for example; an additional number of OSD (in addition) can be obtained by reducing an APS, a 2nd PA & a peon together.
