New Delhi (27.10.2022): Bonhomie and bitterness are part of relationship between the Centre and West Bengal government as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who holds home ministry portfolio will be missing the two-day Chintan Shivir of home ministers of states called by the Modi government at Surajkund in Haryana. This will be attended by home secretaries, DGPs and Director Generals of Para Military forces and central police forces  to chalk out a strategy for ‘Vision 2047’ announced by the PM
Modernization of police forces, cybercrime management, increased use of IT in the criminal justice system, land border management, coastal security, women safety, drug trafficking, among others will be discussed in the meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the Chintan Shivir via videoconferencing on October 28.
Interestingly, the state government will not be sending the Home Secretary BP Gopalika or DGP Manoj Malviya but has assigned Additional Director General (home guard) Niraj Kumar Singh to attend the ‘Chintan shivir’ from October 27.  West Bengal Resident Commissioner Ram Das Meena will also attend the meeting.
Home minister Amit Shah had sent an invitation to Banerjee to participate in the meeting last month. A two-day Chintan Shivir of home ministers of states is being held on October 27 and October 28 to provide national perspective to policy formulation on internal security-related matters.
