New Delhi (27.04.2024):  Two phases of 2024 Lok Sabha elections are over and voter turnout in these phases declined 4-5 per cent across the country. The NDA remained unfazed with the low turnout while I.N.D.I.A is upbeat that voters have started deserting NDA. Will voters not turning out in anyway help the INDIA or voters turning up and voting for it make the difference. Fate of political parties sealed in EVMs would come out on June 4, 2024 but claim and counter claim are very interesting, What are they?

Argument for INDIA Alliance
  • Lower turn out will harm the NDA as voters are getting indifferent towards NDA and looking for a change.
  • The call of the BJP and its slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 ke par’ has made the BJP voters sluggish that the party is anyway winning.
  • Inflation is the biggest issue with the voters to be indifferent towards the government and are not coming out to vote.
  • Institutional Corruption by helping select industrialist has also distanced BJP voters from the party and they decided not to vote.
  • Unemployment and Joblessness are issues that are plaguing youths who have distanced themselves from the BJP.
  • Taking up issues like CAA, redistribution of property, population, UCC and Hindu-Muslim is due to the reason that BJP leaders have become desperate for the fear of losing elections.
  • BJP leaders including the PM have failed to enthuse voters this time round.
  • Arrest of opposition leaders, misuse of ED, CBI and Income Tax have united people against the NDA.
  • Hindu-Muslim divide by the BJP has driven young voters away from the BJP.

Arguments for NDA
  • Bogus votes deleted from the Voters List kept fake voters away bringing the turnout slightly lower that 2019 LS Polls.
  • Sudden rise in temperature and heat wave is another reason as it made difficult for a section of people especially elderly to eschew from voting.
  • Opposition voters except Muslim are not very enthusiast about voting as they reconciled to the fact that the BJP has certain edge over others.
  • Low turnout is generally considered to be for the status quo while high turnout is for change.
  • Hindu voters with I.N.D.I.A are sad the way its leaders humiliated Sanatan and boycotted Ram Mandir. So many of them are not interesting to vote for them.
  • In 2014, when the BJP got clear mandate the turn out was 66.44 per cent with an increase of 8.23 per votes and 2024 polls are more or less polling the same per centage of votes.
  • If it is against the BJP, why voting per centage is down in Kerala, West Bengal and other non-NDA ruled states.
  • The way Muslim voters are coming out to vote, it sounds illogical that the BJP voters are sleeping and RSS is doing nothing.
  • I.N.D.I.A. fail to show up united face disheartening its voters and turning them indifferent towards 2024 LS Polls.
