Thiruvananthapuram (15.05.2025): The Kerala government appears dissatisfied with the three expected names to be included by the UPSC in the panel shortlisted for new police chief of the state. The names likely to be shortlisted by the Centre are -- Nitin Agarwal (IPS: 1989: KL), Ravada Chandrasekhar (IPS: 1991: KL) and Yogesh Gupta (IPS: 1993: KL).
Appointments can only be made from this list. Now it remains to be seen whether the state will appoint an in-charge DGP, as done in ten other states, including Uttar Pradesh. The government is reportedly considering continuing with an in-charge DGP until these three officers retire.
The Centre selects three names based on factors like experience. If Nitin Agarwal is excluded, Manoj Abraham may be included, and he stands a fair chance of being appointed. List sent to the Centre included Nitin Agarwal, Ravada Chandrasekhar, Yogesh Gupta, Manoj Abraham (IPS: 1994: KL), Suresh Raj Purohit and M R Ajith Kumar (IPS: 1995: KL).
