New Delhi (25.05.2023): Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood (IPS: 1986: KN) took over as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on May 27, 2023. Sood served in various capacity during his long career of about 37 years as IPS. 

Decorated with the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service in 2011 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2002, Sood served as SP of Bellary & Raichur; Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bengaluru City; Commissioner of Police, Mysuru City & Bengaluru City; ADGP; Principal Secretary (Home); DGP (Internal Security) and DGP (CID). He has worked as advisor to Government of Mauritius. He has supervised the investigation of high-profile cases involving high net-worth individuals and cases having inter-state & international ramifications and also investigation & detection of crime including Cyber Crime, Information Technology etc. He also worked for strengthening of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) networks in the Karnataka State along with the judiciary.
