India, Israel, and the United States may pool their resources to conceive, design, and manufacture futuristic infantry combat vehicles (FICV). The Indian Army is in dire need of about 2,300 of these vehicles to cope with the feared two-fronts war.
Indianmandarins has learnt that Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has sought details of the project. An informal meeting was held on September 19, and the Defence Procurement Board (DPB) may take up the matter on September 26.
There is said to be an urgency for India to be ready with its response on the FICV as US Secretary of Defence James Mattis will be in New Delhi for two days later this month. Sitharaman may put this issue on table for negotiations with General Mattis.
May it be noted that the FICV project has been pending for over a decade because of a criminal negligence to issues of national security.
