Coronavirus reaching to hill areas when the 26-year-old trainee IFS officer from the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) has been tested positive in Dehradun on March 15, 2020 making it the first case of coronavirus in Uttarakhand.

The said officer was on a study tour to Spain, Finland and Russia along with other probationers. These probationers were under quarantine after returning but blood samples of six of the trainees who had showed symptoms of cough, cold and fever had been sent for testing.

One of the samples has been found to be positive while reports of the rest are awaited. The trainee officer tested positive for virus was showing mild symptoms and therefore holds strong chances of easy recovery. Till now 25 suspected patients have been screened in Dehradun, out of which 15 people reports were found negative while the reports of other 10 people are yet to come.
