The Allahabad High court has taken to task the Uttar Pradesh government for not complying with its order on an appointment issue. It earlier had ordered to appoint the Principal Secretary (Law and Justice) but the State government failed to comply with it. The Court had asked the state government to appoint Gorakhpur District Judge Rang Nath Pandey as the Principal Secretary (Law and Justice), but the State government sought a list of five names for the post. The full bench of four judges including Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Thursday ordered the State Chief Secretary to appear before it on Tuesday. The Administrative Committee of High court rejected the state government's letter and clarified that only the High Court has power to decide the name for the post.
