The Election Commission(EC) may announce the election dates for Gujarat in a week or so. PM Narendra Modi has a huge stake in this election because the opposition has been trying desperately to corner him in his own state. To leave nothing to chance, the PM has been frequently visiting the State. He is scheduled to visit Gujarat again on October 7-8. On the agenda are several public events including a visit to his hometown Vadnagar to inaugurate a medical college and hospital. The Vadnagar trip may be followed by an air dash to Dwarka to lay the foundation stone for a landmark infrastructure project connecting Okha on the Gujarat coast with Bet Dwarka, an island in the Arabian Sea. The primary itinerary shows that Modi may also visit Rajkot to lay the foundation stone for an international airport before moving to south Gujarat for another infrastructure project for Bhadbhut weir in Bharuch district. Last month, the PM visited Gujarat twice - once during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit and later on his birthday to dedicate the Sardar Sarovar project to the nation.
