Manepanda Appaiah Ganapathy (IPS:1986:UD) has been appointed as new Director General of Uttarakhand. He will take over the charge from B S Sidhu (IPS:1982:UD), the outgoing DGP on May 01, 2016. Sidhu is retiring tommorow. Presently Ganapathy is on central deputation to the Ministry of Home Affairs as Joint Secretary, Internal Security. He was also a Govt. Nominee Director from MHA and acting as part-time Director on the Board of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL). Earlier he handled Left Wing Extremism for over three years as Jt Secretary.
