Several IPS officers have been promoted in Gujarat: 04 were given DG Grade (HAG+); 03 IG rank IPS officers were promoted to ADG Grade (HAG); and 07 officers were promoted from DIG to IG. A number of officers were also appointed to upgraded posts: Shivanand Jha (IPS:1983:GJ), currently ADG (Intelligence) was promoted (in-situ) as DGP (Intelligence); Tirth Raj (IPS:1984:GJ) promoted and posted (in-situ) as DGP, Law & Order; and A K Singh (IPS:1985:GJ), currently Police Commissioner, Gandhinagar was promoted to DGP Grade (HAG+) by upgrading the post to DG rank. Ashish Bhatia (IPS:1985:GJ), currently ADG , CID (Crime & Railways), was promoted to DGP Grade. Further, Dr Shamsher Singh (IPS:1991:GJ), IG Surat Range, was  promoted to ADG Grade- the post was upgraded from IG to ADG; Manoj Agarwal (IPS:1991:GJ), secretary to the Govt of Gujarat, Home Department (Sachivalaya), was promoted to ADG Grade. Further, seven IPS officers belonging to 1999 batch too got promotion (in-situ) from DIG to IG namely; Brajesh Kumar Jha, DIG (Armed Units); Ajay Kumar Chaudhari, DIG (Armed Units), Rajkot; A D Chaudasama, DIG Panchmahal Godhara Range; H G Patel DIG (Intelligence-I); S M Khatri, Principal Police Training School, Vadodara; K G Bhati, DIG (Coastal Security & Intelligence), Gandhinagar; S G Trivedi; DIG (Coastal Security), Gandhinagar; D S Bhatt, Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration, Traffic & Crime) Rajkot City.
