The finance ministry has become the butt of a joke in official circles for its infatuation with seeing all amounts in terms of billions. After claiming that it has signed the biggest of its kind funding agreement of $100 billion with New Development Bank for Rajasthan desert areas water restructuring plan, it subsequently corrected itself by substituting the mighty 'b' with the modest 'm' for the amount. A finance ministry release further clarified that the overall $345 billion multi-tranche financing agreement for the Rajasthan water project should be read as $345 million.
