New Delhi (27.08.2024): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Tuesday appointed Satish Kumar (IRMS) to the post of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board for a period of one year. Currently, he is Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Railway Board. He replaces the outgoing Chairman & CEO Jaya Verma Sinha (IRTS) who is completing her tenure (on re-employment basis) on 31.08.2024.

Interestingly, Kumar has been appointed similar way Jaya Verma Sinha was appointed i.e. on re-employment basis post his superannuation date 31.12.2024. All put together, Satish Kumar will attain the retirement age on 31.12.2024 following which he will continue to Chairman & CEO till 31.08.2025 w.e.f. 01.01.2025. 

It may further be underlined that after handing over the charge Jaya Verma Sinha will assume as Member, in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
