New Delhi (16.04.2026): The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on April 15, 2026, appointed Anant Swarup (IRPS: 1992) as its Secretary General. His appointment strengthens FICCI’s senior leadership, with Jyoti Vij continuing to serve as Director General.
Swarup who served as Director General of Trade Remedies, Government of India, has over three decades of experience in public policy, trade remedies, logistics, regulatory reform, and international negotiations, having served in various leadership positions across the central Government and recently, in the private sector.
Swarup has served as Additional Secretary in Department of Commerce and Director General of Trade Remedies; Executive Director to the Union Minister of Railways, and First Secretary representing India at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva. He holds a Masters’ Certificate in Sustainable Infrastructure and Finance and degrees of MBA, LLB, and MSc.
Swarup is son-in-law of former Union Home Minister and HRD minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Secretary (West) in the Ministry of foreign affairs Vikas Swarup (IFS: 1986).
