environment-minister-dave-passes-away Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave passed away on Thursday. He was 60. He complained of uneasiness at his home this morning and was rushed to AIIMS where he passed away. He had been unwell since January this year after suffering from pneumonia. He had not been able to recover since. "Absolutely shocked by the sudden demise of my friend & a very respected colleague, Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave Ji. My condolences" tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "I was with Anil Madhav Dave ji until late last evening, discussing key policy issues. This demise is a personal loss," he added. Dave was appointed Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change on July 6, 2016. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, first in 2009. He is well-known for his work on river Narmada through an organization 'Narmada Samagra' founded by him, which works on the conservation of the Narmada and its catchment area through various activities and events. Born in Madhya Pradesh  on July 6, 1956, Dave held several posts: Member, Standing Committee on Environment and Forest and Science & Technology; Member, Standing Committee on Water Resources; Member (Board of Governors) of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan; Nominated Member of Indian Council for Cultural Relations; Chairman, Select Committee on Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013, and Chairman, Select Committee on Coal Mines (Special Provision) Bill, 2015. He also authored several books on various subjects including environment and climate change. Beyond Copenhagen; Yes I Can, So Can We; Creation to Cremation; rafting through a civilization: a travelogue; Shatabdi ke Paanch Kaale Panne; Sambhal Ke Rehna Apne Ghar Me Chhupe Hue Gaddaron Se; Mahanayak Chandrashekhar Azad; Roti Aur Kamal ki Kahani; Samagra Gram Vikas, are some of them. His death has been condoled by one and all cutting across party lines.
