The Enforcement Directorate's endless wait for new officials in senior management may be over shortly. Reportedly, meeting held at CVC on 13 October has cleared ten names for appointment to the posts of Special Director, Additional Director and Joint Director. Vinit Agrawal (IPS:1994:MH) has been selected for the post of Special Director whereas Deepak Kumar Kedia (IPS:1999:AM) and P Kashyap (IRS IT) are all set to be appointed as Additional Director, ED. In addition, eight officers will shortly be appointed to the post of Joint Director, Enforcement Directorate. It may be noted that the Enforcement Directorate has been ailing for want of manpower for years. Currently, it is said to be functioning with a bare strength of approx 700 personnel of all ranks versus the sanctioned strength of 2,064. Indianmandarins had reported first on July 11, 2016, that about 25 applicants were shortlisted for a Special Director post, 09 for Additional Director post and about 40 were to be considered for 11 Joint Director level posts. In addition, several dozens of Dy Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors are also to be appointed. After postponing its meetings at least five times, the CVC finally met on October 13, 2016, clearing the names for ten senior posts.
