Power corridors are abuzz that Deepak Mishra may be appointed the next DG, Prison (Tihar) as Alok Verma (IPS:1979:UT), the incumbent DG, is set to take over from B S Bassi (IPS:1978:UT) as new Police Commissioner of Delhi Police on March 1. Mishra's senior J K Sharma (IPS:1982:UT) is said to be out of contention for the job because it would have interfered with his current assignment of DG (Home Guards).
Insiders say that Deepak Mishra (Senior Special CP, Law & Order) is considered a reformer - an attribute which Tihar needs most. Reportedly, MHA is expected to take a call regarding the successor of Alok Kumar Verma this week. It will be interesting to see who will be named as DG, Prison (Tihar).
