The appointment is for a period of three years. This is in addition to his current responsibility as Additional Secretary, Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance. 

As the Chief Vigilance Officer his oversight extends to the entire Headquarters establishment, including all attached and subordinate offices. His authority excludes specific organizations under the Department that already have their own dedicated CVOs in place. As CVO, Mishra will be responsible for heading the vigilance administration, ensuring transparency, and monitoring integrity within one of the government’s most critical financial departments.
