Indianmandarins has learnt that the CVC held a meeting on March 29 to consider a panel for the selection of Additional Director General in CBI. The panel is said to include three names. Of the three candidates on the panel, Rakesh Asthana (IPS:1984:GJ) is said to be ahead in the race for the coveted job. In addition, Hitesh Chandra Awasthi's (IPS:1985:UP) name is also doing rounds as brighter candidate for the post. Earlier many names were in circulation including Rishi Raj Singh (IPS:1985:KL) and Loknath Behera (IPS:1985:KL) for the post. Some insiders believed that Rishi Raj and Behera have bleak prospects whereas Rakesh Asthana and H C Awasthi have better chance for the job.
