New Delhi (08.01.2024): Having suffered major electoral set-backs in recent months, the Congress is ready for major organisational restructuring. The top party leadership is likely to effect major changes at the AICC, state units, general secretary, secretary and also state in-charge levels. These changes are likely to take place in the month of February.
The Congress has already dissolved UP state units where elections are due in 2027. So, the UP state unit will be restructured to infuse strength keeping in mind crucial elections ahead. The states unit in Maharashtra and Haryana will find complete restructuring. The communications department headed by AICC general secretaryJairam Ramesh too may be changed.
All these changes will reflect the announcement by the party chief Mallikarjun Khadge during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belagavi where he favoured infusion of young and local leadership in the states and strengthen the party to win elections from booth to central level.
