sources are to be believed, the New Delhi establishment is likely to clear the
appointment of new Central Information Commissioners (CIC) soon. Central
Information Commission is a constitutional body whose strength has been
depleting very fast. The total strength of the CIC including Chief
Information Commissioner is eleven. Out of the total eleven positions, six are already
vacant. CIC Y K Sinha is completing his term on September 30, 2023 whereas four
other ICs namely -- Suresh Chandra, Hiralal Samariya, Saroj Punhani and Uday
Mahurkar. are expected to bid adieu in early November. Reportedly,
files pertaining to the appointment of Information Commissioners have reached
at the highest level and may be endorsed shortly.
