In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak as many as 204 persons have been placed under home quarantine in Chandigarh. Among those are; Rajesh Khullar (IAS:1989:HY), Principal Secretary to Haryana CM; daughter of Chandigarh’s Home Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta (IAS:1992:UT); and N P Sharma, Chief General Manager of Chandigarh Smart City Limited.

It may be underlined that Khullar returned from his US visit on Friday and was advised to stay isolated till 04 April i.e. 14 days. A poster reading ‘home quarantine’ was pasted in front of Khullar’s and Gupta’s official residences in Sector 16, Chandigarh.

Gupta’s daughter returned from the US early morning Saturday. As precautionary measure Gupta announced to continue his to work from even though rest of his family members are unaffected as none of his family members came in touch with her after she landed.

Sharma’s appears a crucial case. Even though his son met the first COVID-19 positive patient Gupta continued with his official meetings and came in contact with CSCL CEO and Chandigarh Municipal Commissioner K K Yadav (IAS:2003:PB), who further attended several top-level meetings where UT administrator V P Singh Badnore and adviser Manoj Parida were also present.
