New Delhi (02.01.2025): The Centre has granted sanctions to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to prosecute Kumar Rajeev Ranjan (IAS: 2010: AGMUT), Revenue Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, in alleged arms license scam case in J&K. Kumar Rajeev Ranjan was then Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, one among nine IAS officers, who were accused of issuing arms license on monetary considerations to non-deserving applicants.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) conveyed that prosecution sanction against Kumar Rajeev Ranjan has been granted. This case is being adjudicated in the High Court of J&K and Ladakh. On November 25, 2024 Jammu andKashmir and Ladakh High Court had expressed serious concern over pick and choose policy in granting prosecution sanction against bureaucrats in this scam.
