Based on a review of real-life results gathered from the introduction of the phased launch of the Turant Customs program in select ports of import, the government has decided to extend the scheme to all Customs ports. This is seen as part of a government initiative to welcome the relocation of industries from China to India, as well as to help domestic industries meet their import requirements for growth without any customs hassle.

The Turant scheme is designed to promote faceless, paperless, and contactless customs clearance procedures pivoting around digital transactions.

The CBIC has issued a comprehensive guideline in this regard on the organizational structure as well as the safety measures to be adopted while implementing the scheme.
