New Delhi (23.12.2020): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday, filed a charge sheet against a former Principal (Om Prakash Shukla) of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakvasla, Pune, in connection with a case of allegedly providing the false academic records for appointment as teaching staff in the institute. According to an official source, the CBI has filed a charge sheet at a competent court in Pune. The CBI said that, the case was registered in May 2018 against Shukla and others on the allegations of fraudulent appointments to various posts of civilian faculty at the NDA on the basis of false and exaggerated claims in respect of teaching/research experience and exaggerated API scores. The searches were carried out by the agency in June 2018 at the premises for the recovery of incriminating documents of the accused. And had registered a case under sections of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery using forged documents as genuine of the Indian Penal Code and criminal misconduct by a public servant under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Furthermore, the CBI clears that during the period of 2007-2008, Shukla fraudulently secured an appointment as professor in Economics and subsequently, in 2011 as Principal of NDA, on the basis of false claims made in his applications to UPSC regarding teaching/research experience, and thereby cheated the Ministry of Defence. The CBI had initiated a preliminary enquiry in July 2017 against the allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of teaching staff at the Defence training institute. Where Shukla and the others have been booked for exaggerating the credentials of a few people in order to get them jobs at the institute. (By Neha Sharma)
