Lucknow/Dehradun (11.02.2022): Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections have sent two bureaucrats Aseem Arun and Rajeshwar Singh to Assembly while the wife of a revenue services officer too got elected to the Assembly. The BJP managed to snatch Kannauj Assembly from Samajwadi Party from where it fielded Aseem Arun. But the most high-profile constituency has been Sarojini Nagar from where former ED Joint Director Rajeshwar Singh defeated Abhishek Mishra of the SP by over 54 thousand votes. Similarly, Alka Singh Arkvanshi of BJP who is the wife of an IRS officer defeated BSP candidate Abdul Mannan by over 40 thousand votes. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, the wife of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in the Union government, has won Kotdwar set by over 3000 votes. Further, in Punjab, the AAP trio of Harbhajan Singh ETO, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh (IPS), and Jaswinder Singh Ramdas delivered surprise wins. Vijay Pratap Singh, a former Punjab Police IG belonging to 1998 batch of IPS, registered a victory in Amritsar North beating his closest rival, SAD’s Anil Joshi, by a margin of 28,313 votes. Former PCS officer Harbhajan Singh ETO registered a win from Jandiala by beating Sukhwinder Singh Danny of INC whereas AAP’s candidate from Attari, Jaswinder Singh Ramdas, who retired as ADC, won by beating his rival and SAD stalwart Gulzar Singh Ranike.
