Bring city SP back to work: Palghar people launch a petition

By IndianMandarins- 15 May 2020

In an unusual move, Palghar people have started an online campaign to bring back SP Gaurav Singh (IPS:2012: Maharashtra) who was sent on compulsory leave. State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has sent him on leave in connection with the lynching case in Palghar in which three people were killed.

An online petition has been launched by Sujit Singh, who runs a gymnasium in Palghar, and Karan Chaudhary, a social activist. They have requested President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other leaders to get Singh back as the SP in Palghar.

IPS officer Gaurav Singh was sent on immediate leave from May 8. The petitioners say that he has helped clean up the district of illegal activities like sand mining, gutka and liquor mafias and brought the strong process into implementation so that citizens bond strongly with police whenever they have any issues.
