Power corridors are abuzz with speculation about Sanjay R Bhavsar being elevated to Indian Administrative Service. Prime Minister Modi's close aide and powerful Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) officer, Bhavsar is currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (A&T) at the PMO. Reportedly, the UPSC committee that recommends officers for elevation to IAS cadre made a visit to Gujarat this week to complete the formalities.
Prior to his posting in the PMO in July 2014, Bhavsar served as one of the most trusted lieutenants of Modi in Gujarat Chief Minister's Office. Bhavsar is considered the door to access PM Modi as he handles his appointments.
