New Delhi (17.10.2025): The administrative high table saw two significant elevations yesterday, as the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the grant of the Apex pay scale (Level-17 in the pay matrix) to two Director General-rank Indian Police Service officers.
Praveen Vashista (IPS: BH: 1991), who currently serves as the Special Secretary(Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), was granted the Apex Scale. Shri Vashista is scheduled to superannuate in July 2026.
Similarly, Rajesh Nirwan (IPS: RJ: 1992), the serving Director General (DG) of the Bureau ofCivil Aviation Security (BCAS), has also been accorded the Level-17 pay scale. Nirwan has a longer service tenure, with his superannuation slated for January 31, 2029.
The grant of the Apex Scale is a high-level designation, typically reserved for officers who hold key positions of strategic importance in the Central government and are evaluated based on their seniority and overall service record.
