Ms Sunita Kejriwal, an IRS (Income Tax) officer of 1993 batch, has taken voluntary retirement from service, which would be effective from July 15. Though she had sought VRS early this year but the order to this effect was issued by CBDT today. When she applied for VRS early this year she was posted as Commissioner, Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Delhi. Though Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal claims the supposed fear of victimisation by the present Modi dispensation as reason for her VRS but two aspects are also worth noticing about her; first, as Kejriwal's wife she took charge of the kitchen and dedicatedly fed AAP workers without breaking the service rules and secondly, she was never posted out of Delhi throughout her 22 years long career in IRS (IT). Having served for more than 20 years she would enjoy the pension benefit as well.
