Arup Roy Choudhury, former CMD of NTPC, has been appointed as the
first Chief Commissioner of the West Bengal Right to Public Service Commission,
a body mandated to stipulate time limits for providing notified public
services. His five-year term as CMD (NTPC) came to an end in August and was
eligible for an extension till he achieved superannuation age in 2017. The Modi Government denied him extension beyond August 2015. The
West Bengal Right to Public Service Commission was constituted last
month.
