G Mohan Kumar (IAS:1979:OR) has been appointed as Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence. Kumar, the incumbent Secretary, Defence Production, will replace R K Mathur (IAS:1977:MT) who will complete his tenure on May 24. Mathur had taken over as Defence Secretary on May 25, 2013.
