New Delhi (17.02.2025): Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar is retiring on February 18, 2025 but his farewell parties have already begun. There was one such function held at India International Centre Last week where several former CECs were invited. Two get-togethers are planned at Nirvachan Sadan today — one by junior staff at the Election Commission and the other by senior officers. The government is expected to name of Kumar’s successor today. This is the first time that a CEC is being appointed by way of a selection committee and not promotion by way of seniority.
