The ADG empanelment of 1987 batch IPS officers has given a sigh of relief to the entire cadre. Though delayed, it hasn't come too late.
Usually, every year, one batch of IPS officers is empanelled to hold DIG, IG, ADG and DG level posts in Govt of India. But for the 1987 batch, 2017 was a disappointing year. Barring a few insiders, it remained a mystery for all as to what put the empanelment of the batch on hold till the last week of April this year.
Knowledgeable sources said April 24 turned out to be a magical date for certain reasons. It is said that the entire empanelment process was almost through much before the end of 2017 but the matter was put on hold to accommodate one particular officer. As per the rules and provisions, a three-year central deputation is mandatory for empanelment as ADG. And the officer completed his three years of service at the center on April 24. And this opened the vistas of opportunity for 33 officers who were on Thursday announced empanelled for ADG rank post in Govt of India.
It may be recalled that the 1986 batch was empanelled as ADG on 11 November 2016. As per the precedence, the 1987 batch could have ideally been empanelled last year but, for the reason stated above, their empanelment as ADG could be announced only on April 26, 2018.
