Indianmandarins has learnt that the 2015 batch of IAS officers may soon be posted in Govt of India as Assistant Secretaries. It may be noted that as many as 181 officers constitute the batch which would be the third such batch to have a six-months orientation course at the central government - unlike the 2013 batch that had a three-month stint. They will get the experience in, exposure to, the functioning of the Govt of India as Assistant Secretaries in different departments and ministries.
It may be noted that the 2015 batch probationers had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 23 last year. The PM may again address them once they are posted in GoI.
The NaMo administration had introduced the provision for baptizing the IAS officers with the functioning of the Govt of India in November 2015 when 169 IAS officers of 2013 batch were posted in Govt of India as Assistant Secretaries. The 2013 batch was the first-ever to be exposed to working experience at the center before being sent to their state cadres. Initially, there were no sanctioned posts; and so the experiment was executed through posts borrowed from the central secretariat service. Since the experiment was considered successful, new posts of Assistant Secretaries were created to accommodate 2014 batch officers.
