Tenure of service of Dr. P Parameswaran Iyer (Ret IAS:1981:UP) has been extended till he attains 60 years of age i.e. 30 April 2019. Tenure of his appointment (contractual basis) was scheduled to be over on 28.02.2018. Currently he serves as Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Iyer is considered a star officer of the IAS and is well known for his Jal-Suraj program. He quit the IAS in 2009 to join World Bank as a Senior Water and Sanitation Specialist in Washington DC where he served on deputation from April 1998 till September 2007.
