New Delhi (01.04.2022): Political realignment has started to pick a new face to lead the UPA against the BJP during the Lok Sabha polls 2024. Shiv Sena, an ally of Congress in Maharashtra, has supported Sharad Pawar as UPA chief aiming to bring together all the opposition parties against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at national level.

Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut said that it was necessary for the Congress to expand the UPA after its drubbing in the recently held assembly elections in five states .

“The UPA is not anybody’s private fief… Today, there are doubts about whether the UPA exists or not. If it wants to face the 2024 elections, then the UPA should be strengthened and more parties should be brought into its fold,” said Raut.

Raut said Sharad Pawar is a veteran in politics.
