The power corridors appear to be perplexed over the abrupt repatriation of M Gopal Reddy (IAS:1985:MP), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs w.e.f from 31st March 2017. If some well placed sources are to be believed the proposal of repatriation and approval went simultaneously. Reportedly, Reddy vacated the office immediately after the orders were served. DOPT is yet to publish the ACC orders.
Reddy was, on 22 December 2015, in-situ promoted from JS to Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and later he got the post against the sanctioned post of AS. He held assignments namely As (Police-I), AS (Police II) and AS (UT) which are considered as most important divisions in MHA.
