Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi no longer calls officials and chiefs of paramilitary forces to North Block these days. Instead, he has been visiting all paramilitary force headquarters himself to discuss issues affecting the forces and their field of operation. To ensure that things are sorted out right on the table and responsibility fixed, he also takes along his subordinates, including Additional Secretaries and Joint Secretaries. One such meeting was recently held at SSB headquarters in RK Puram. He is next scheduled to visit the BSF headquarters, where issues related to border fencing in Punjab are likely to be discussed. This is apparently being done to cut bureaucratic delays as a lot of time is wasted in getting replies from various quarters.
