IPS officer Sudhir Kumar Saxena was on Tuesday made in charge of the crucial Internal Security Division in the Home Ministry. He is a 1988 batch officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and was recently appointed as Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry. Today, he was asked to take over the crucial Internal Security-I division, which deals with terrorism, insurgency, terror funding, assessing threat situation in the country, besides security clearance to various projects.
In a fresh move of reshuffle in Home Ministry newly appointed Joint Secretary (MHA) Gyanesh Kumar (IPS:1988:KL) has been allocated J&K Division whereas Sudhir Kumar Saxena (IPS:1987:MO) will handle Internal Security-I Division in MHA. which will be now handled by Saxena.
Gyanesh Kumar, currently posted as Resident Commissioner at the Kerala Bhawan in Delhi, will be taking over from Rajit Punhani, a 1991 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre who has been shifted to Freedom Fighter Rehabilitation (FFR) division.
V Shashank Shekhar (IAS:1996:NL) has been transferred from Coordination and Public Grievances (C&PG) to Police-II division, which looks after the modernisation of police forces.
R K Mitra (CSS Cadre officer) will look after C&PG division including the judicial wing of the ministry.
