Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Committee of Secretaries (CoS) may shortly clear the names of three IRS IT officers to be appointment as Members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). In addition to Aditya Vikram, who was on Tuesday empanelled as PCCIT, names circulating around are of Ms. Neena Kumar (IRS IT:1982), P C Modi (IRS IT:1982), and Akhilesh Ranjan (IRS IT:1982). Reportedly, Aditya Vikram and Neena Kumar are being seen as most prospective names whereas either Modi or Ranjan or both may also be picked up on the panel. It may be mentioned that Aditya Vikram is currently posted as CCIT in Delhi whereas Ms. Neena Kumar, Modi and Ranjan are currently serving as Principal DG (Admin), PCCIT Mumbai, and Principal DG (International Taxation). Among these four names, Akhilesh Ranjan may have the longest tenure whereas all three would retire next year. It may be mentioned that at least four members of CBDT would retire next year.
