Chief Justice of India T S Thakur has asked Chief Justices of various High Courts to hold meetings of their respective collegiums to recommend names against huge number of long-pending vacancies. As for the vacancies in Supreme Court, the CJI is likely to wait until the revised memorandum of procedure is notified before taking a call on the names. However, there are indications that the Supreme Court collegium may consider recommending at least one name from among the lawyers for the bench.
