New Delhi (20.02.2025): Amid the Indian economy showing signs of slow growth the New Delhi establishment on Thursday evening extended the tenure of Chief Economic AdviserDr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, serving on a contract basis, for a period of two years ending March 31, 2027. Real GDP grew by 05.40% in the September quarter, the slowest in nearly two yrs. It is worth underlining that CEA’s extension comes weeks after the Economic Survey 2024-25 projected GDP growth of 6.3% to 6.8% for the next fiscal year (FY26).
The CEA advises the Government of India on various economic policies and drafting the annual Economic Survey, which is tabled a day before the Union Budget in parliament.
