Setting aside the ongoing race for the top cop job in UP the incumbent DGP Arvind Kumar Jain (IPS:UP:1979) is, reportedly, all set to get three months extension beyond March 31, 2015. He had taken over as DGP on February 01, 2015.
It was reliably learnt that UP CM, Akhilesh Yadav Govt was initially keen on picking Jagmohan Yadav (IPS:UP:1983) as next DGP but finally UP Govt recommended to the GoI for three months extension to the incumbent DGP, A K Jain. Though there are 13 IPS officers in the rank of DGP but three had brighter prospects including Vijay Kumar Gupta (IPS:UP:1982), Praveen Singh (IPS:UP:1982) who are senior to Jagmohan Yadav.
