Contrary to previous media reports, the empanelment of 1983 batch IPS officers as Director General (GoI) is yet to take place. Reportedly, ACC, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, may ratify the DG empanelment (1983 batch IPS) on August 18 and the list may be published any time this week or next. It's learnt that for want of CVC and IB clearances only seventeen officers qualified and considered for empanelment. Out of these 17 officers, only 12 names are said to have been sent to PMO on August 05. It is believed that of these 12 names, the decision on one name may be deferred and finally, 11 names would be empanelled as DG at Centre. Indianmandarins has learnt that the ACC has not taken any final call so far. Reportedly, the final meeting on DG empanelment took place on August 05 wherein Director IB and Union Home Secretary cleared the matter at their end and then it was processed for the PMO take a final call and ACC ratification.
