Power corridors are abuzz that Krishan Kumar Jalan (IAS:1982:HY) could be appointed as Union Secretary for Textiles, following the superannuation of incumbent Secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda (IAS:1980:MT) on December 31, 2015. Two more names are also simultaneously doing the rounds for the post - of Rakesh Srivastava (IAS:1981:RJ) who is serving in Rajasthan and Ms Rashmi Verma (IAS:1982:BH) who is serving at the Centre as Special Secretary in the Department of Revenue. Of the three supposedly in the race, Jalan is seen and considered the front runner in view of the fact that during his first stint at the Centre from April 1999 to March 2005, he served in the Ministry of Textiles as Director and further as Jt Secretary. His second tenure at the Centre from June 2013 to August 2015 equipped him with experience in critically important sector of Labour & Employment as he served in the rank of Additional Secretary & Special Secretary in Ministry of Labour & Employment.
