The empanelment of A K Sharma (IPS:1987: GJ) for holding an Additional Director General rank post in Govt of India has cleared the deck for the long-pending appointment of two ADGs in CBI. These posts have been lying vacant for over a year following the appointment of Rakesh Asthana (IPS:1984: GJ) and Y C Modi (IPS:1984: AM) as NIA Chief and Special Director CBI respectively.
Reportedly, M Nageshwar Rao (IPS:1986: OR), too, has been in the race for the ADG post in CBI.
Currently, both Rao & Sharma are serving as Joint Director in CBI (IG Rank) and hold the additional charge of ADG of substantially important divisions.
Those in the know of the affairs say that ADG posts were kept vacant for these two officers only.
